Here is a list of 10 Bad Project Warning Signs. It's for web designers, but we think it applies to interiors projects as well. The project needs to be done in an incredibly short space of time, due to a fixed deadline. In these situations the potential client has often known about the deadline for a while. However it’s taken them longer to plan the project than initially anticipated so they expect the developer(designer, dealer, manufacturer) to make up the time. Individually none of these signs should be deal breakers. However put a few of them together and it may be worth thinking twice about taking on that project.Read the rest..... http://www.andybudd.com/archives/2005/05/10_bad_project_warning_signs/index.php

The partners and associates of Connect recently were at a conference where Susan S. Szenasy, Editor In Chief of Metropolis Magazine spoke. Ms. Szenasy told us that Metropolis had dropped its New York centric approach 15 years ago. The masthead says "Metropolis examines contemporary life through design--architecture, interior design, product design, graphic design, crafts, planning, and preservation. Subjects range from the sprawling urban environment to intimate living spaces to small objects of everyday use. In looking for why design happens in a certain way, Metropolis explores the economic, environmental, social, cultural, political, and technological context. With its innovative graphic presentation and its provocative voice, Metropolis shows how richly designed our world can be. http://www.metropolismag.com/cda This issue has a review of the photographic book Looking at Los Angeles. Spanning eight decades, the book features work by 88 artists, including William Claxton, Joel Sternfeld, Julius Shulman, Ed Ruscha, and Catherine Opie.http://www.metropolismag.com/cda/story.php?artid=1315

We knew we better pay attention when Business Week ran their cover feature on Blogs in business.
"...you cannot afford to close your eyes to them, because they're simply the most explosive outbreak in the information world since the Internet itself. And they're going to shake up just about every business -- including yours. It doesn't matter whether you're shipping paper clips, pork bellies, or videos of Britney in a bikini, blogs are a phenomenon that you cannot ignore, postpone, or delegate. Given the changes barreling down upon us, blogs are not a business elective. They're a prerequisite." Here's the link if you would like to read the article. http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/05_18/b3931001_mz001.htm
